On leaving school I went into the motor trade to train as a mechanic and worked at two local garages ( BMC and Ford ) finishing up as workshop foreman. At the Ford garage in Welwyn Garden City where I worked, the owner's son raced a Marcos GT & then an Elan 26R. The cars were prepared in our workshops. 

I then established Ranscombe Sports Cars in 1966 in Stevenage Old Town and we were appointed as Lotus Service Dealers in the early nineteen seventies. We serviced and sold Lotus Cars for some six years. Other makes were catered for and we built up a strong customer base.

A strong interest in Lotus cars has resurfaced and we have now established a workshop in Knebworth for the servicing, repair and restoration of  Lotus cars focusing mainly on models from the sixties and early seventies, also the Lotus Twin Cam engine fitted to most of these cars. Early American cars are of interest as well. We are also looking to stock the odd classic car and have also established a limited range of Lotus spare parts which we will be increasing in the future.
